Library Storytelling Morning activity for November 2012

Come to the “tellebration” with us! Monthly Saturday morning meetings from October to June where kids can enjoy selected stories in English, this time with Carrie and Marcus as storytellers.

Recommended for children between the ages of 4 – 8.Thirty-five children per session and two adults per child maximum. 45 minutes approx.

The activity forms part of the library services for library members, with an optional 2 for 1 registration. This means each child with a library card can bring one guest.

Library members will need to show their library card and send an e-mail to biblioteca@iie.es confirming their participation in the activity any time from the first day of the month and up to the week of the Storytelling morning.

Non-members who want to participate have a symbolic associated cost of 3€ per child for each session. The tickets can be obtained at the library check-out desk the same week of the Storytelling morning up until 15 minutes before the beginning of the activity.

If at some point the number of members registered reaches the maximum capacity limit we will announce that tickets are sold out trough the IIE Facebook page.

Deep in the woods in an old white cabin, three friends make their pumpkin soup the same way every day. The Cat slices up the pumpkin, the Squirrel stirs in the water, and the Duck tips in just enough salt. But one day the Duck wants to stir instead, and then there is a horrible squabble, and he leaves the cabin in a huff.

Nuevo ciclo 2012/2013 del LIBRARY STORYTELLING MORNINGS

Nos alegra poder anunciar un nuevo ciclo de Library Storytelling Mornings para el curso 2012/2013 con el título “Stories old, stories new, favourite stories renewed for you”.

Los LSTM son cuentacuentos en inglés que desde el año 2008 realizamos dentro de biblioteca del Instituto Internacional un sábado al mes de octubre a junio. Es una actividad familiar orientada para el disfrute de niños de 4 a 8 años pero también de los adultos que los acompañan (no más de dos adultos por niño). El mismo día se realizan dos sesiones: a las 11 h. todo en inglés y a las 12:30 h. sesión bilingüe (en inglés con un poco de español).

Cada ciclo se organiza partiendo de una selección de libros de autores preferentemente norteamericanos sobre diferentes culturas del mundo y valores humanos. En esta ocasión habrá clásicos y nuevos títulos de la literatura infantil junto con algunas de las historias que más han gustado de las ya realizadas en ciclos anteriores.

Como “storytellers” volveremos a contar con Brian, Carrie, Marcus y Trisha en un formato que intentará usar la música y los sonidos como complemento para la narración de la historia.

La actividad es parte de los servicios que se ofrecen a los socios de la biblioteca con opción de 2 x 1 en la inscripción, es decir, cada niño con carnet de usuario validado puede traer un acompañante infantil. Os animamos a haceros Amigo de la Biblioteca-infantil o realizar alguno de los cursos del Programa de Inglés del Instituto Internacional para disfrutar de esta opción… ¡o buscar un amigo que sea socio!

La participación de quienes no son miembros de la biblioteca tiene un coste asociado de carácter simbólico y permite la participación puntual o no continua. Se ha establecido un precio simbólico de 3€ por niño participante en una sesión suelta (los adultos acompañantes no pagan). Las entradas sueltas se podrán conseguir por adelantado en el mostrador de la biblioteca la semana misma en que se celebre el  cuentacuentos hasta 15 minutos antes del inicio de la actividad.

Todos interesados que quieran asegurarse plaza deberán enviar un mensaje de inscripción a biblioteca@iie.es (indicando sesión preferida y nombre de los niños) las semanas del mes en curso previas al desarrollo del Storytelling (cualquier día salvo los de la semana del cuentacuentos).

Las peticiones se atenderán por orden de llegada y tendrán prioridad los socios inscritos. La confirmación para la participación de los no socios se realizará también por correo electrónico en los primeros días de la semana en que se realiza el cuentacuentos. La disponibilidad de espacio será anunciada en nuestra página de Facebook y Twitter, para los que decidan acudir sin inscripción.

Iremos anunciando mes a mes las fechas y los libros seleccionados en la agenda del Instituto Internacional y en el blog.
