The Seven Chinese Brothers « Biblioteca del Instituto Internacional

El próximo miércoles 27 de abril en el Instituto Internacional conmemorando el Día del Libro tendrán lugar un total de 7 actividades desde las 17 hasta las 22 h. como contribución a La Noche de los Libros, la gran fiesta urbana sobre literatura y libros de la Comunidad de Madrid.

17 – 20 h. – En la Sala 104

Book Fair For Kids and Teens /Feria del libro infantil y juvenil en inglés

Feria del libro infantil y juvenil en inglés para animar a la lectura con una selección de libros de la editorial Scholastic a precios muy económicos.

18 -19 h. – En la Biblioteca:

Kid’s Storytelling session with Oliver’s Interactive Stories.

Cuentacuentos en inglés orientado a niños de 4 a 8 años con un nivel avanzado del idioma de la mano del Storyteller Oliver (Brian George) y sobre el libro “The Seven Chinese Brothers”.

19-20 h. – En el Aula 303:

Taller-Presentación del libro “Teach Yourself English Pronunciation: An Interactive Course for Spanish Speakers” de Eva Estebas Vilaplana

Presentación en la que la autora nos dará las claves de este manual interactivo orientado a hispanohablantes que busquen la mejora de la pronunciación inglesa.

Intervendrán la autora y Juana Gil Fernández, directora del Laboratorio de Fonética del Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas.

Encuentro con autores. “Dos miradas sobre EE UU desde ambos lados del océano: Antonio Orejudo charla con el novelista estadounidense Tom Drury”

Los autores debatirán entre ellos y con el público sobre libros, escritura, la juventud en EE UU y las tendencias literarias.

Entrega de premios del Concurso de Microrrelatos del Instituto Internacional

Lectura a cargo de Clara Obligado y algunos de los autores de las antologías de microrrelatos “Por favor, sea breve”.

Lectura para acercarse a la mejor minificción de escritores españoles y latinoamericanos. Se leerán tanto textos de autores novísimos como de los grandes, con acompañamiento musical.

Come to the “tellebration” with us! Monthly Saturday morning meetings from October to June where kids can enjoy selected stories in English with Brian George (Oliver) as storyteller.

Recommended for children between the ages of 4 – 9. 35 children per session and two adults per child maximum. Approx. 45 minutes.

Participation is free (The first week of the month the Friends of the Library and International Institute students will be able to pre-register).

Seating is limited; entrance is open until full capacity.

Registration starting the first day of every month at biblioteca@iie.es. Register including children’s name/s and your favorite session (11 / 12:30 h.) and wait for our confirmation reply.

“The first imperial court of China is the setting for this Han tale in which the seven brothers who look, walk, and talk alike display their unique powers. First Brother can hear a fly sneeze 100 miles away. Second Brother can see the fly sitting on the Great Wall of China. Third Brother is a man of unusual strength and so on. As a team, they repair a hole in the Great Wall in a single day. The emperor, a cruel man feels threatened by “a person” of this strength. He sends off two armies to execute Brother Three. Then begins the drowning, fire, arrows; but, as each brother replaces another, their unique talents are revealed. Finally, Brother Seven, in one fell swoop, takes care of the armies and the tyrannical emperor. The brothers are free to return to a peaceful life once again. The fine, detailed watercolor paintings recreate the era in which the Great Wall was built.”
